Riding on a Felluca was a great experience. Unlike taking a ferry, like back in NY, it seemed more like personal experience. There were about 14 people on each Felluca. The weather definitely got a bit chilly so I was glad I brought my winter coat. The scene was filled with bright lights dancing on the Nile as the Felluca sailed along, the 4 seasons hotel, Nasser's Middle finger and other bright attractions.
There were many things I learned. One, a Felucca ride is no ordinary boat ride, it’s amazing, tranquil and very peaceful. Second, if the Felucca is balanced correctly, you can get some amazing shots of yourself and can even go near the sails. Third, don’t get too crazy on the Felucca as there are no lifejackets. After the Felucca ride, we walked back to our hotel, which was like a 45 minute walk along the Cornish and back. We passed some and saw some beautiful sites. We were able to get closer to Nasser’s Middlefinger building. The building was unique and very beautifully light. Sometimes it would sparkle in pink and blue patterns. We passed by the Marriott (even went inside) and other hotels by the Nile. One of the most important lessons learned that day as we concluded our Felucca ride and walked back home was that crossing the Cornish is no joke.
I remember my heart was pounding when I got ready to step in to the street which seemed to be a highway! One after another, I saw my classmates cross the street and for some reason when it was my turn, a car suddenly sped up and went past by me, separating me from the rest of the group. I was on my own. With a sudden leap of faith, and a slower car and a bit less traffic, I was finally able to rejoin my group.
